Marcus Rashford may not have been able to play with Bruno Fernandes as Manchester United team-mates yet, but he can barely contain his praise for the Portuguese after his stunning start to life at Old Trafford.

The midfielder arrived from Sporting in the January transfer window and has been thoroughly impressive in a red shirt ever since, with United unbeaten since his debut.

Rashford has been sidelined with a back injury since 15 January, so has not had the chance to take to the field with Fernandes, but he has seen more than enough to develop an opinion.

The 22-year-old believes the Portugal international’s quality and infectious attitude have improved players around him at Old Trafford and can’t wait to get onthe pitch with him.

‘He’s creative and he’s very forward thinking,’ Rashford told Bleacher Report. ‘He always wants to play the ball forward and create opportunities early.

‘It’s definitely going to be good to play with him and, you know, hopefully we can have some good times together…

‘He’s got such a positive attitude, and the vibe he brings to the team is just positive. Even when he does lose the ball or makes a mistake, he’s always running, working out to win it back.

‘I think that definitely rubs off on the other players. He’s had a positive impact and, you know, hopefully he carries it on.’

In just five Premier League appearances so far, Fernandes has produced two goals and three assists, with United winning three and drawing two of those contests, keeping four clean sheets in the process.

Remarkably, only Rashford (4) and Daniel James (6) have provided more Premier League assists for United this season than Fernandes, and he only arrived in the country at the end of January.

Rashford has been pushing for another new arrival at Manchester United, talking up the potential summer signing of Jadon Sancho from Borussia Dortmund.

‘It would be good [if Jadon Sancho joined].’ Rashford said. ‘Sancho is a great player. He’s like the new generation player.

‘It’s definitely exciting to watch the player he’s becoming — hopefully we can all play together. That would be good.’
