A Nigerian woman, Mrs. Kafayat Amusan, has been delivered of a baby boy aboard an Emirate Airlines flight.
Amusan, who was one of the Nigerians returning from Dubai, United Arab Emirates, developed complications onboard the flight.
The development forced the pilot of the plane to make a U-turn and returned to Dubai a few hours after takeoff.
A statement issued by the Head of Media and Public Relations, Nigerians in Diaspora Commission (NIDCOM), Abdul-Rahman Balogun, said the woman had been admitted at a hospital in Dubai.
The statement read: “A Nigerian, Mrs. Kafayat Amusan delivered a baby boy onboard Emirates airline departing to Lagos on Wednesday.
“She is currently on admission at a hospital in Dubai. In her response, the Nigerian Ambassador in Dubai, Amb. Rimi and staff of the Embassy are in touch with the mother and child who are in good condition.
“The Chairman/CEO of Nigerians in Diaspora Commission (NIDCOM), Hon. Abike Dabiri-Erewa congratulated Mrs. Amusan for another addition in her family and prayed she return safely to the country.
“Dabiri-Erewa said she will return to Nigeria after obtaining a birth certificate and other necessary travel documents for her baby boy.”
